High Ability Studies provides a forum for scholars in a variety of disciplines associated with the development of human abilities to their highest level. It is a medium for the promotion of high ability, whether through the communication of scientific research, theory, or the exchange of practical experience and ideas. The contents of this journal are unique in reflecting concerns and recent developments in this area from childhood and across the whole life span in a variety of contexts. Far from being restricted to the traditional focus on high-level cognitive development, it also presents investigations into all other areas of human endeavour, including sport, technology, the arts, business, management and social relations. The journal is concerned with aspects of development, personality, cognition, social behaviour and cross-cultural issues in relation to high ability. Theoretical modelling and measurement techniques, as well as instructional strategies and curriculum issues, are of interest. Consequently, the journal presents material which is relevant to researchers in the field, to managers who have highly able individuals employed, to policy makers who need to find frameworks by which to make the best use of high ability in society, to mentors, coaches, teachers, counsellors and parents of highly able children. Furthermore, the contents are not restricted to the study of manifest high level achievement, but include the identification and nurturance of unexercised potential. High Ability Studies is an international refereed journal which publishes papers in English, as well as reviews of books and other relevant material. It is the official scholarly journal of the European Council for High Ability (ECHA). Peer review process

History Australia articles undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process before being accepted for publication. 

Publication frequency
From 2003 to 2007 History Australia was published twice a year, in June and December.
From 2008 to 2015, three issues of History Australia were published each year, in April, August and December.
From 2016, four issues of History Australia will be published each year, in March, June, September and December.

Journal History
History Australia replaced the Australian Historical Association’s Bulletin, which was published between 1974 and 2003.
History Australia’s first issue was published in print in 2003. The first issue to be published online was Volume 2 Number 1, the December 2004 issue. The journal's original editor was Emeritus Professor Marian Quartly of Monash University, who saw History Australia through the transition from a print-only journal to an online plus print publication. At the end of 2008, after five full volumes, Emeritus Professor Quartly handed over the editing role to the partnership of Penny Russell and Richard White, both of the University of Sydney. In 2013 the editorship was transferred to Frank Bongiorno, Tomoko Akami and Alexander Cook at the Australian National University. In 2016 the editorship moved to Melanie Oppenheimer, Matthew Fitzpatrick and Catherine Kevin at Flinders University.

Delayed open access
Until the end of 2015 the contents of this journal were available in an open access format 24 month(s) after an issue was published.

History and Anthropology continues to address the intersection of history and social sciences, focusing on the interchange between anthropologically-informed history, historically-informed anthropology and the history of ethnographic and anthropological representation. It is now widely perceived that the formerly dominant ahistorical perspectives within anthropology severely restricted interpretation and analysis. Much recent work has therefore been concerned with social change and colonial history and the traditional problems such as symbolism, have been rethought in historical terms. History and Anthropology publishes articles which develop these concerns, and is particularly interested in linking new substantive analyses with critical perspectives on anthropological discourse. The journal publishes studies of: economic, religious and linguistic change; European and non-European colonial systems; transformations of art and material culture; gender in history and culture; encounters with and images of 'others'; the influences of anthropological representations upon indigenous consciousness and culture; the various contributions of anthropology to colonial practice; and the development of ethnological and anthropological ideals and investigative techniques. The editor therefore welcomes regional and thematic studies oriented towards wider analytic or critical issues. All papers should be aimed at the wider group of those interested in anthropology, history and discourse, rather than sub-disciplinary traditions; articles concerned with particular geographic regions or debates should therefore not presume prior knowledge of the area. History of Retailing and Consumption

The purpose of the journal is to provide a central place for publication and reference for those interested in all aspects of the history of retailing and consumption: from the literary, to the spatial, to the economic. In bringing together different disciplinary perspectives and methodological approaches, we aim to foster greater dialogue across disciplines which too often exist in silos. Equally, by drawing together contributions from across the globe, we look to establish a clearer dialogue between national schools of thought and to facilitate international comparisons through empirical studies and review essays. In this way, the journal will nuance the dominant Anglo-American perspective on consumption with viewpoints taken from different places and different times.

We look to publish high quality contributions on any aspect of the history of retailing and consumption: from antiquity to the 21 st century, and from advertising and shopping to consumption rituals and political identity. Articles might take a variety of forms: case studies of particular firms, places or practices; comparative analyses across space or time; review essays challenging or championing particular theoretical perspectives, or cross-disciplinary comparisons, for example linking archival and literary or artefactual sources. We also want to encourage ‘thought pieces’: shorter articles which could provide historical parallels with topical issues or explore particular objects, documents or shops. In this way and others, we seek to link the journal to the curators/archivists who care for the shop/company archives or museum collections.

Jon Stobart is Professor of Social History at the University of Northampton. His research covers various aspects of consumption and retailing in eighteenth-century England: from second-hand goods, to the trade in groceries, to the material culture of the country house

  Vicki Howard is an Associate Professor of History at Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York. Her research explores the relationship between commerce and culture in United States history from the late nineteenth-century to the present and covers such topics as the wedding industry, the decline of the local department store, and the origins of the snackfood industry.

History: Reviews of New Books lets readers know what's new in current scholarship on historical topics. Approximately thirty to forty book reviews per quarterly issue cover all geographic areas and time periods, from ancient times to the present. The reviews are concise, authoritative, and timely. They outline and evaluate the author's arguments, describe the sources used in the research, and place the book in the context of other scholarship. History is invaluable for professors planning course syllabi, for graduate students interested in cutting-edge work, and for libraries making regular acquisitions.

 
History: Reviews of New Books is actively recruiting new authors for both its feature review and regular review sections. Feature reviews are review essays that typically engage two (or more) recent history books on all periods, places, subfields, and themes. They are 3000-word articles that bear independent titles and may cite outisde work (according to the author-date system as described in The Chicago Manual of Style, 15th edition). Regular book reviews retain the standard 500-750-word format.  Authors interested in either opportunity should contact the managing editor.
