Journal of Insect Conservation

ISSN: 1366-638XeISSN: 1572-9753
JUFO Level 1

International in scope and audience, the Journal of Insect Conservation publishes articles on the conservation of insects and related invertebrates. The papers presented touch on all aspects of conservation and biodiversity of insects and closely related groups such as Arachnids and Myriapods, including ecological work with conservation implications. Articles focus on both theoretical and practical topics, addressing the subject at the community, population and species level. Coverage includes aspects of behaviour, taxonomy and genetics, and ranges from local to global. Review articles are included, as well as points of view which are likely to stimulate debate. The journal is produced in association with Butterfly Conservation, a wildlife charity dedicated to the conservation of lepidoptera and their habitats which was closely involved in developing its concept. Further information on Butterfly Conservation and its work is available at www.butterfly-conservation.org.

Journal of Molluscan Studies

ISSN: 0260-1230eISSN: 1464-3766
JUFO Level 1

The Journal of Molluscan Studies accepts papers on all aspects of the study of molluscs. These include systematics, molecular biology, palaeontology, ecology, physiology and many other areas, as will be seen from a glance through recent Contents lists. Where the topic is some aspect of applied malacology (for example fisheries, parasitology, neurobiology, biochemistry, biomedical studies etc), papers will still be considered as long as the mollusc is the principal focus of the study, and not incidental or simply a convenient experimental animal. While systematic papers are encouraged, descriptions of single new taxa will only be considered if they include significant ‘added value’, for example in the form of new information on anatomy or distribution, or if they are presented in the context of a systematic revision or phylogenetic analysis of the group. Papers in the format of Research Notes are generally methodological notes, or brief reports that are of unusually wide interest or importance; these are published as rapidly as possible after acceptance. Review papers on topics of general interest are also accepted. .

Journal of Morphology

ISSN: 0362-2525eISSN: 1097-4687
JUFO Level 1

Aims and Scope From the Editor: With the advent of a wide range of diagnostic tools and the recently undreamed of research avenues now available to morphologists. we are experiencing a world-wide explosion of interest and activity in the field of morphological science. Indeed. we firmly believe we have once again entered into a GOLDEN AGE OF MORPHOLOGY! This explosion of activity extends across the entire range of zoology. Invertebrate morphology partners equally with vertebrate morphology in this golden time. and theJournal of Morphologyis excited to be a part of this. As members of this worldwide community of morphologists. you can be assured that. following the dictum 'Present the Science.' we will help you to present your most important. most lasting work in depth and in detail in theJournal of Morphology. Aims and Scope: TheJournal of Morphologywelcomes articles of original research in cytology. protozoology. embryology. and general morphology. Articles generally should not exceed thirty-two printed pages. Preliminary notices or articles of a purely taxonomic or ecological nature are not included. No paper which has already appeared will be accepted nor will simultaneous publications elsewhere be allowed. How to cite:To make sure that references to this journal are correctly recorded and resolved (for example in CrossRef or ISI Web of Science). please use the following abbreviated title in any citations: 'J Morphol.' Punctuation may vary according to the style of the citing journal.

Journal of Threatened Taxa

ISSN: 0974-7893eISSN: 0974-7907
DOAJ Logo
JUFO Level 1

The Journal of Threatened Taxa (JoTT) is a monthly (aiming to be more frequent), online, open access, free access, peer-reviewed journal on wildlife, conservation, taxonomy, ecology and all aspects contributing to the science and action thereof. The objective of JoTT is to publish timely, articles of importance for promoting conservation and encouraging wildlife studies in the biodiversity-rich countries of the world. The lag time after final acceptance of manuscripts from January 2009 will be two months or less depending on the completeness (in content and format) of submissions by authors and timely returns of the galley proofs.JoTT is not restricted to taxa (phyla, groups, families, orders, species, subspecies, varieties, forms or populations) that are threatened with extinction as defined by the IUCN Red List. The term “threatened” is used broadly to include all forms of taxa and their ecosystems, with the premise that the natural world today is threatened and therefore its taxa. Taxa could be threatened in several different ways and not only in their status in the wild. Lack of knowledge about a species or subspecies or a population is a threat as priorities could be compromised due to deficiency in data. Taxa scientifically described for the first time are under threat from data deficiency in their distribution, status, ecological needs, etc. Any taxon could be under threat in a location due to the changes in habitat or quality. Ecological changes, changes in land use, socio-economic changes, human influenced changes, alien introduced species, wrong reintroduction practices, new emerging diseases, social and political unrest, improperly planned national and international wildlife and conservation legislations, constant changes in taxonomy, global climate change, and other factors that keep our environment and ecosystems in a constant flux can have widespread or localized impacts on taxa. In some instances even the so-called “Least Concern” species could be impacted locally or widely due to the above factors. The Journal of Threatened Taxa is global in its coverage and is a direct progression from eight years of experience with Zoos’ Print Journal (ZPJ), whose coverage was South Asia. The objectives of JoTT are very similar to that of ZPJ with respect to the subject areas covered. Once manuscripts are reviewed and finally accepted and the authors have submitted all relevant files, attachments and documents, including the final galley proof, publication lag time will be kept to a maximum of two months. The categories of articles published in JoTT include Papers, Communications, Reviews, Notes, Opinions, Book Reviews and Comments. Contents include:Content:Conservation, Wildlife, Taxonomy, Zoo, Botanic Gardens, Veterinary, Ecology, Biology, Biogeography, Ethology, Natural History, History of Natural History, Biography, Bibliography on fauna, flora and fungi. The following contents are desirable, but not exclusive:1. Conservation of wild flora, fauna or fungi, issues, techniques, tools, legislation, assessments.2. Population studies, management, genetics, biology.3. Threats to wild populations or habitats, factors, management.4. Conservation actions, management actions, reviews.5. Biodiversity inventories, range extensions, new records, checklists.6. Journal of Zoology

ISSN: 0952-8369eISSN: 1469-7998
JUFO Level 1

The Journal of Zoology publishes high-quality research papers that are original and are of broad interest. The Editors seek studies that are hypothesis-driven and interdisciplinary in nature. Papers on animal behaviour, ecology, physiology, anatomy, developmental biology, evolution, systematics, genetics and genomics will be considered; research that explores the interface between these disciplines is strongly encouraged. Studies dealing with geographically and/or taxonomically restricted topics should test general hypotheses, describe novel findings or have broad implications. The Journal of Zoology aims to maintain an effective but fair peer-review process that recognises research quality as a combination of the relevance, approach and execution of a research study. The journal also welcomes reviews and forum papers on current issues, particularly where topics of a complex or poorly understood field are synthesized. Prospective authors should submit a 300-word abstract, a list of up to 20 key references, and a cover letter (two pages maximum) outlining what will be discussed in the article. Proposals for reviews should be submitted to journalofzoology@zsl.org. The submission of completed review manuscripts without prior consultation with the Editor is discouraged. The Journal of Zoology is a member of and subscribes to the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics. Papers that report experimental work must comply with the standards laid down by British national or equivalent legislation and the research permit number must be stated in the acknowledgments section of your manuscript.
