Casopis je utemeljen 1925. godine pod nazivom Acta Botanica Instituti Botanici Regalis Universitatis Zagrebensis. Pod nazivom Acta Botanica Croatica izlazi od 1957. godine.Objavljuje izvorne znanstvene radove iz botanike, algologije, mikologije, bakteriologije i biljne virologije (floristika, taksonomija, ekologija, citologija, fiziologija, citogenetika, molekularna biologija, paleobotanika). Objavljuje rezultate istraživanja na kopnu (u nizinskim i krškim podrucjima), u kopnenim vodama, te u Jadranskom i Sredozemnom moru.Casopis ima medunarodno uredništvo i medunarodnu recenziju rukopisa pisanih iskljucivo na engleskom jeziku. Od 2000. godine Acta Botanica Croatica izlazi dvaput godišnje (jedan volumen, dva broja).AGRICOLA, BIOSIS, CAB International, EBSCO Publishing, BIOBASE, Current Awareness in Plant Science, Scopus, Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Zoological Records, Web of Science – Science Citation Index expanded.

Acta Botanica Hungarica publishes papers by scientists of Hungary and of surrounding countries working on the topics listed below. Studies by foreign researchers written in the framework of international projects and cooperations are also welcome. Main subjects: plant anatomy and histology, cryptogam and phanerogam taxonomy, molecular phylogeny, plant geography, plant sociology, vegetation science, tropical botany, ethnobotany, paleobotany and palynology. Publishes book reviews and advertisements.

Acta Oecologica is venue for the publication of original research articles in ecology. We encourage studies in all areas of ecology, including ecosystem ecology, community ecology, population ecology, conservation ecology and evolutionary ecology. There is no bias with respect to taxon, biome or geographic area. Both theoretical and empirical papers are welcome, but combinations are particularly sought. Priority is given to papers based on explicitly stated hypotheses. Acta Oecologica also accepts review papers.The forum section is reserved for short papers with critical discussion of current issues in ecology, as well as comments and viewpoints on previously published papers. acta ethologica publishes empirical and theoretical research papers, short communications, commentaries, reviews and book reviews in the field of ethology and related disciplines, with a strong concentration on the behavior biology of humans and other animals. The journal places special emphasis on studies integrating proximate (mechanisms, development) and ultimate (function, evolution) levels in the analysis of behavior. Aspects of particular interest include: adaptive plasticity of behavior, inter-individual and geographic variations in behavior, mechanisms underlying behavior, evolutionary processes and functions of behavior, and many other topics. acta ethologica is a journal of the Instituto Superior de Psicologia Aplicada (ISPA), with the co-operation of the Portuguese Ethological Society (SPE) and the Spanish Society of Ethology (SEE).

African Invertebrates is an international peer-reviewed journal that covers the taxonomy, systematics, biology, biogeography, ecology, conservation and palaeontology of Afrotropical invertebrates, whether terrestrial, freshwater or marine, published jointly by the Council of the KwaZulu-Natal Museum and Pensoft Publishers. A printed version of the journal is produced twice a year. All contributions are published in English (British Standard), with an option to add an abstract in any other language that uses Latin or Cyrillic alphabet. When preparing manuscripts, authors are encouraged to make use of extensive holdings of the KwaZulu-Natal Museum and other South African museums and collections, and to deposit holotypes (paratypes) and voucher specimens in recognised South African institutions.

African Journal of Aquatic Science is an international journal devoted to the study of the aquatic sciences, covering all African waters. African Journal of Ecology (formerly East African Wildlife Journal) publishes original scientific research into the ecology and conservation of the animals and plants of Africa.
