Journal Guide

The journal represents a platform for disseminating the fundamental scientific evidence for environmental protection and sustainable development. The journal will bring together excellent natural sciences, which underpin the understanding, development and application of technologies, to deliver a sustainable future. Dissemination of the fundamental science, methodologies, tools and techniques, in addition to the policy and governance landscape around the topic of sustainable future, are the focus of this publication. It brings together the need to consider the science and technology for environmental benefits including the development of both smarter, cleaner technologies for environmental protection, more efficient processing methods for resource use efficiency and critically, the environmental evidence for their uptake and success.

Aims and Scope of the Journal Environmental and Experimental Botany:Environmental and Experimental Botany (EEB) publishes research papers on the physical, chemical, biological, molecular mechanisms and processes involved in the responses of plants to their environment.In addition to research papers, the journal includes review articles. Submission is in agreement with the Editors-in-Chief.The Journal also publishes special issues which are built by invited guest editors and are related to the main themes of EEB.The areas covered by the Journal include:(1) Responses of plants to heavy metals and pollutants(2) Plant/water interactions (salinity, drought, flooding)(3) Responses of plants to radiations ranging from UV-B to infrared(4) Plant/atmosphere relations (ozone, CO2 , temperature)(5) Ecophysiology of Northern plants under global change and environmental stress(6) Biotic interactions involving environmental factors.Each submitted manuscript related to these areas should be preferably based on an explicitly elaborated mechanistic hypothesis.The following types of manuscripts are not suitable for EEB: field monitoring surveys, pure mathematical modeling without experimentations, pure correlative works, applied papers on agriculture and phytopathology, studies of plant biology, gene expression and molecular works without considering environmental aspects.

Euphytica is an international journal covering the theoretical and applied aspects of plant breeding, and publishing critical reviews and papers on original research.The journal reports on the growing field of research associated with the integration of modern and traditional plant breeding using transgenic crop plants and/or marker assisted breeding in combination with traditional breeding tools. The content addresses the interests of researchers involved in plant breeding at universities, breeding institutes, seed industries, plant biotech companies and industries using plant raw materials, and promoting stability, adaptability and sustainability in agriculture and agro-industries. The European Journal of Agronomy, the official journal of the European Society for Agronomy, publishes original research papers reporting experimental and theoretical contributions to crop science in the following fields:• Crop physiology• Crop production and management• Agroclimatology and modelling• Plant-soil relationships• Crop quality and post-harvest physiology• Farming and cropping systems• Agroecosystems and the environmentIn determining the suitability of submitted articles for publication, particular scrutiny will be placed on the degree of novelty and significance of the research and the extent to which it adds to existing knowledge in agronomy. Confirmatory research and results from routine cultivar or agronomy trials will not normally be considered for publication. Review articles are normally written on invitation from the Editor-in-Chief. Authors intending to prepare review papers for the Journal are advised to consult the Editor-in-Chief before writing their reviews.

Coverage includes reports on trends in research, studies in regeneration, soil chemistry, regional and local changes in forest cover and patters and more. The European Journal of Plant Pathology is an international journal that publishes original research articles dealing with fundamental and applied aspects of plant pathology. Field Mycology is devoted to the identification and study of wild fungi in Britain and Europe. It is designed to aid readers' identification skills with user-friendly keys, many colour illustrations, and tips on where and how to look for interesting and less commonly recorded species. It guides readers through the techniques required for identifying fungi in the field and under the microscope, provides reviews and guides to literature, and brings readers up-to-date with local and national recording and conservation schemes. All of this, plus the latest mycological news and events from Britain and around the world is presented. Field Mycology is edited by a panel of expert British mycologists and conservationists.

FLORA is the scientific botanical journal with the longest uninterrupted publication sequence (since 1818). Manuscripts will be considered for publication dealing with plant structure (morphology and anatomy), plant distribution (molecular phylogeography) and plant functional ecology (ecophysiology, population ecology and population genetics, organismic interactions, community ecology, ecosystem ecology).Manuscripts will be considered if they appeal a broad scientific readership.Manuscripts of mostly taxonomic nature or focused on floristics and vegetation science will only be considered if they exceed the pure descriptive approach and have relevance for interpreting plant morphology, distribution or ecology. Manuscripts whose content is restricted to purely systematic and nomenclature matters, to geobotanical aspects of only local interest, to pure applications in agri-, horti- or silviculture, and experimental studies dealing exclusively with investigations at the cellular and subcellular level will not be accepted. Manuscripts dealing with comparative and evolutionary aspects of morphology, anatomy and development are welcome.

Apart from regular papers, the journal also publishes book reviews and Forum discussion papers that raise important topics of broader interest. Occasionally, Special issues may be published on various topics in plant ecology, and plant systematics.

Functional Plant Biology publishes papers that contain new and significant information about plant functions and their regulation, especially in relation to changing environments. Fungal Biology is the international research journal of the British Mycological Society. Fungal Biology publishes original contributions in all fields of basic and applied research involving fungi and fungus-lke organisms (including filamentous fungi, yeasts, lichen fungi, oomycetes, and slime moulds). These fields include biochemistry, biodeterioration, biotechnology, cell biology, developmental biology, disease control, ecology, environment, evolution, fungal physiology, genetics, genomics, geomycology, insect pathology, medical mycology, molecular genetics, mutualistic interactions, physiology, plant pathology, secondary metabolites, taxonomy and systematics, and techniques. Priority is given to contributions likely to be of interest to a wide international audience.

Fungal Biology Reviews is an international reviews journal, owned by the British Mycological Society. Its objective is to provide a forum for high quality review articles within fungal biology. It covers all fields of fungal biology, whether fundamental or applied, including fungal diversity, ecology, evolution, physiology and ecophysiology, biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology, cell biology, interactions (symbiosis, pathogenesis etc), environmental aspects, biotechnology and taxonomy. It considers aspects of all organisms historically or recently recognized as fungi, including lichen-fungi, microsporidia, oomycetes, slime moulds, stramenopiles, and yeasts.
