Men and Masculinities (M&M) offers high-quality, interdisciplinary research in the emerging field of men and masculinities studies. M&M presents peer-reviewed empirical and theoretical scholarship grounded in the most current theoretical perspectives within gender studies, including feminism, queer theory and multiculturalism. Using diverse methodologies, M&M's articles explore the evolving roles and perceptions of men across society.
Middle Eastern Literatures is endorsed by the Union Europ233;nne des Arabisants et Islamisants (UEAI) and Classical Arabic Poetry Symposium (CAPS), and provides a forum for the academic study of all Middle Eastern literatures. Works on literature composed in, for example, Persian, Turkish, post-Biblical and modern Hebrew, Kurdish, or Urdu are welcomed. Regional literatures of the area, such as the Arabic, French, and Tamazight ("Berber") literature from North Africa, also fall within the scope of the journal. The editors welcome high quality scholarly contributions (in English, French, or German) devoted to aspects of either one or several of the literatures of the Middle East, whether classical or modern.Our project is eclectic. Middle Eastern Literatures encourages studies of a cross- and multi-linguistic nature that focus on East-West (and/or East-East) relations. Articles that examine the relationship of literature with other arts and media (visual arts, music, theatre, and film) will also be welcomed. The editors encourage the submission of translations of literary texts, accompanied by an introduction and full bibliographical details. From time to time, the journal will publish special issues focusing on a particular aspect of the literatures of the Middle East.In a wider sense, our project aims at broadening available networks of communication. The journal hopes to promote a dialogue between scholars of Middle Eastern literatures and their colleagues working in other academic disciplines and world regions, and particularly those who are engaged in the study of other literatures (Western and non-Western alike). The aim is to foster an active exchange of views and information. Modern Chinese Literature and Culture (ISSN # 1520-9857), formerly Modern Chinese Literature (1984–1998), is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal devoted to the culture of modern and contemporary China, with China understood not in the narrow, political sense (e.g., People's Republic of China), but in the sense of Greater China (e.g., Hong Kong, Taiwan, PRC, and the Chinese diaspora). The journal publishes on literature of all genres, film and television, popular culture, performance and visual art, print and material culture, etc. MCLC is edited by Kirk A. Denton at the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures, The Ohio State University. MCLC is listed in the Arts and Humanities Citation Index. Beginning in fall 2003, book reviews no longer appear in the print journal; instead, they are published on the MCLC Resource Center, a website devoted to modern China cultural studies and affiliated with the journal. The MCLC Resource Center also has an online publication series that complements the publications in the print journal.
Modern Drama was founded in 1958 and is the most prominent journal in English to focus on dramatic literature. The terms, "modern" and "drama," are the subject of continuing and fruitful debate, but the journal has been distinguished by the excellence of its close readings of both canonical and lesser known dramatic texts through a range of methodological perspectives. The journal features refereed articles that enhance our understanding of plays in both formal and historical terms, largely treating literature of the past two centuries from diverse geo-political contexts, as well as an extensive book review section. Over a century ago, MLN pioneered the introduction of contemporary continental criticism into American scholarship. Its reputation for high standards and excellent quality continue into the new millennium. Critical studies in the modern languages (Italian, Hispanic, German, French) and recent work in comparative literature are the basis for the articles and notes in MLN. The journal publishes four single-language issues and one comparative literature issue.
The focus of MLQ is on change, both in literary practice and within the profession of literature itself. MLQ is open to papers on literary change from the Middle Ages to the present and welcomes theoretical reflections on the relationship of literary change or historicism to feminism, ethnic studies, cultural materialism, discourse analysis, and all other forms of representation and cultural critique. Seeing texts as the depictions, agents, and vehicles of change, MLQ targets literature as a commanding and vital force.
