Island Arc provides an opportunity for the prompt, international and high-standard publication of research from all fields of solid earth geosciences. Papers which discuss the interaction between the solid earth, atmosphere, and water bodies are also welcome. The journal has a particularly good track record in publishing results of studies related to convergent plate margins and to the Pacific and Asian regions. The Journal publishes peer-reviewed articles and reviews. Original scientific articles, of a maximum length of 15 printed pages, are published promptly with a standard publication time from submission of 8 months. Articles describing new and important results are given priority and will be published a minimum of 4 months after submission. All articles are peer reviewed by at least two researchers expert in the field of the submitted paper.
The Journal of African Earth Sciences sees itself as the prime geological journal for all aspects of the geology of the African continent and the Middle East, and especially on the search for natural resources from these regions. This international interdisciplinary journal publishes high quality, peer-reviewed scientific papers on the geodynamics of the African and Arabian plates and their contained mobile belts, cratons and sedimentary basins; the crustal evolution, tectonics and structural geology of this region; economic geology of major mineral deposits and hydrocarbon resources; sedimentology, stratigraphy and palaeontology, petrology and mineralogy, geochemistry and isotope geology of Africa and the Middle East. Papers on applied geology should preferably be linked to such core geological disciplines and must be addressed to a more general geological readership. It is important to note that articles intended for submission to the Journal of African Earth Sciences must be of a wider African (or even international) context rather than purely local studies of limited scope, which should rather be addressed to national or local African-Middle Eastern journal forums. Journal of African Earth Sciences papers should appeal to a wide audience of geoscientists rather than being highly specialised technical papers. The journal is closely affiliated with the Geological Society of Africa and publishes the GSA Newsletter. The Journal of African Earth Sciences recently launched the "Geological Society of Africa Presidential Review" series of invited review articles written by acknowledged international experts, bringing together the latest earth science information for academic, applied geological and mining institutions on particular topics of wide interest.
The Journal of Asian Earth Sciences is an international interdisciplinary journal devoted to all aspects of research related to the solid Earth Sciences of Asia. The Journal publishes high quality, peer-reviewed scientific papers on the regional geology, tectonics, geochemistry and geophysics of Asia. It will be devoted primarily to research papers but short communications relating to new developments of broad interest, reviews and book reviews will also be included. Papers must have international appeal and should present work of more than local significance. The scope includes deep processes of the Asian continent and its adjacent oceans; seismology and earthquakes; orogeny, magmatism, metamorphism and volcanism; growth, deformation and destruction of the Asian crust; crust-mantle interaction; evolution of life (early life, biostratigraphy, biogeography and mass-extinction); fluids, fluxes and reservoirs of mineral and energy resources; surface processes (weathering, erosion, transport and deposition of sediments) and resulting geomorphology; and the response of the Earth to global climate change as viewed within the Asian continent and surrounding oceans.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. Frequency: 4 issues per year.Subject coverage. The journal aims to promote research and developments in geophysics and related areas of engineering. It has a predominantly applied science and engineering focus, but solicits and accepts high-quality contributions in all earth physics, including geodynamics, natural and controlled-source seismology, oil, gas and mineral exploration, petrophysics and reservoir geophysics. It covers those aspects of engineering that are closely related to geophysics or on the targets and problems that geophysics addresses. Typically this is engineering focused on the subsurface, particularly petroleum engineering, rock mechanics, geophysical software engineering, drilling technology, remote sensing, instrumentation and sensor design.Articles. Original contributions, not normally more than 8000 words (14 journal pages).Invited articles. Commissioned by the Editorial Board.
ournal of Iberian Geology will acknowledge for publication of original papers dealing with different aspects of Earth Sciences, mainly concerned with Geology of the Iberian Peninsula and surrounding areas. The Journal also accepts collections of selected original papers that will be published as edited monographic volumes. Potential editors of monographic volumes should contact with the editors-in-chief for further information before preparing any documentation.
The journal, which is published nine times a year, encompasses the entire range of metamorphic studies, from the scale of the individual crystal to that of lithospheric plates, including regional studies of metamorphic terranes, modelling of metamorphic processes, microstructural and deformation studies in relation to metamorphism, geochronology and geochemistry in metamorphic systems, the experimental study of metamorphic reactions, properties of metamorphic minerals and rocks and the economic aspects of metamorphic terranes.
The Journal of Mining Science publishes papers on geomechanics and information geoscience, creation of resource-saving underground and open-pit mining technologies, strength and stability of mine workings, investigation into the wave processes in rock mass and flow of hydrocarbons in the strata, mineral dressing, mining machine science, and ventilation systems in underground workings. Journal of Mining Science, covers all areas of mining engineering, including papers on the mechanical properties, pressure distribution, brittleness, drillability, and blast behavior of rock in mines, new drilling machinery, techniques of ventilation, and more. The Journal of Mining Science is a translation of the peer reviewed journal Fiziko-Tekhnicheskie Problemy Razrabotki Poleznykh Iskopaemykh, a publication of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk, Russia.
The Journal of Mountain Science, started in 2004, is an international English-language journal on mountain sciences. The JMS is supervised by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), sponsored by the Chengdu Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, CAS, published by Science Press China, and distributed by Springer exclusively throughout the world (excluding Mainland China). The United Nations University (UNU) takes part in the editorial work and supports subscriptions for institutions in developing and transition countries. The Editorial Board members and reviewers are invited from different countries and regions in the world, and the JMS solicits contributions from and is distributed throughout the world. The JMS is a bimonthly journal with 6 issues a year. JMS publishes research and technical papers on mountain environment, mountain ecology, mountain hazards, mountain resources and mountain development. The JMS accepts both individual and organizational contributions.
Journal of Petroleum Geology is a quarterly journal devoted to the geology of oil and natural gas. Editorial preference is given to original papers on oilfield regions of the world outside North America and on topics of general application in petroleum exploration and development operations, including geochemical and geophysical studies, basin modelling and reservoir evaluation.
The Journal of Sedimentary Research publishes the most recent advances in basic research in the study of sediments. Research papers in this international journal are concerned with both ancient and modern sediments. Areas of specialty include petrology, petrography, diagenesis of sedimentary deposits and sediments, processes of sedimentation, characterization of depositional systems and environments, stratigraphy, sedimentary tectonics, sedimentary basin studies, sedimentary geochemistry, sedimentary mineralogy, coal geology, orbital forcing, paleosols, carbonate platforms, hydrocarbon reservoirs, and evaporite sedimentology. JSR also features discussions and replies to previously published papers and online book reviews. First published by SEPM - Society for Sedimentary Geology in 1931, it is the oldest earth science journal dedicated to the field of sedimentology. Now in its 74th year, JSR continues its long tradition of publishing papers that become benchmark contributions to sedimentary geology.
