Acta virologica (4 issues per year in printed and electronic version) is an international journal of predominantly molecular and cellular virology. It provides means for rapid publication of original papers dealing with fundamental research mainly on human, animal and plant viruses. As a matter of tradition also rickettsiae are included. Areas of interest are structure, genetics and morphology of viruses, molecular biology of virus-cell interactions, pathogenesis of viral diseases, viral immunology, vaccines, antiviral drugs and viral diagnostics. Original experimental papers may have the form of full-length articles, short communications or letters to the editor. Besides them also review articles, book reviews, announcements and reports on various scientific events are accepted. African Journal of AIDS Research (AJAR) is a peer-reviewed research journal publishing papers that make an original contribution to the understanding of social dimensions of HIV/AIDS in African contexts. AJAR includes articles from, amongst others, the disciplines of sociology, demography, epidemiology, social geography, economics, psychology, anthropology, philosophy, health communication, media, cultural studies, public health, education, nursing science and social work. Cellular Microbiology aims to publish significant contributions on the intersection of microbial and host-cell biology that strongly advance understanding of unique biological processes and mechanisms. The scope includes the host cell responses and interactions elicited by prokaryotic, viral, fungal and parasitological microorganisms that illuminate exploitation of host cell structures, function and signalling pathways, and may include modulation or alteration of immune responses. Mechanistic insight obtained through robust biochemical, genetic, cellular, and bioimaging technologies are expected to support observational data. In addition to mammalian and plant systems, papers addressing other hosts such as invertebrate systems are encouraged. Because viruses are inherently dependent upon the host cell, virology-based submissions to Cellular Microbiology should advance knowledge of the interaction of viruses and host cells.

Current HIV Research covers all the latest and outstanding developments of HIV research by publishing original research, review articles and guest edited thematic issues. Emerging Microbes & Infections (EMI) is a new open access, fully peer-reviewed international journal. The purpose of EMI is to provide a forum to publish a wide range of scientific reports related to emerging infectious diseases, especially with new information from developing countries where such diseases are constantly arising and being discovered regularly. It will report discoveries of emerging microbes (bacteria, viruses, fungi and other pathogens) including their previously unknown phenotypic or genotypic characteristics, as well as cutting edge information associated with microbial mechanisms of pathogenesis, immune evasion and protection, clinical presentation and outcome, drug efficacy and its resistance, epidemiology and other issues important to global health.
