Journal Guide

The primary objective of "Critical ReviewsTM in Oncogenesis" is the advancement and dissemination of scientific and clinical knowledge relating to the molecular basis of Oncogenesis for both its originality and scientific merit. CRO is dedicated to publishing timely critical reviews on topics of current interests with emphasis in basic, molecular and translational applications in the field of Oncogenesis. Further emphasis will also be placed on the role Oncogenesis in the development of cancer and malignancies as well as the role of cancer stem cells and their oncogenic potential. Reviews will also consider the role of oncogenes as diagnostics and therapeutic targets. This journal will publish special thematic issues on selected topics such as described above and employing many multidisciplinary approaches. Articles are by invitation only.In contrast to reviews in several other publications, CRO will be focused on its specific and unique thematic approach for each issue that is contributed by various experts in and, often, an invited Guest Editor will be appointed for a particular issue. This multidisciplinary approach for a specific topic in Oncogenesis will distinguish CRO from many other journals whereby individual reviews are published. We believe that the new CRO objective will lead to a wide readership and will be used as an essential reference for research scientists, clinicians, students, and health professionals. The new Aims and Scope of CRO are designed to interest a wide readership and make it a reference standard in Oncogenesis.

Authors who wish to submit reviews to the journal are requested to submit a short synopsis of their chosen subject to the Editor. Further information regarding the submission of manuscripts and guidelines for the preparation of the manuscripts can be found in the Guide for Authors.

Critical Reviews in Plant Sciences focuses on presenting in-depth and up-to-date reviews of timely subjects in the broad discipline of plant science, ranging from molecular biology/biochemistry through the areas of cell biology, plant physiology, genetics, classical botany, and ecology, to practical agricultural applications. An Editorial Advisory Board with widely diverse interests and expertise identifies topic areas and suggests authors who are known contributors in those areas to prepare thorough critical reviews. Contributors survey and synthesize the most significant papers in the recent and current literature and present an evaluation of research and advances in the topic area, as well as identify major problems and prospects for the future. Therapeutic uses of a variety of drug carrier systems have significant impact on the treatment and potential cure of many chronic diseases, including cancer, diabetes mellitus, psoriasis, parkinsons, Alzheimer, rheumatoid arthritis, HIV infection, infectious diseases, asthma, and drug addiction. Scientific efforts in these areas are multidisciplinary, involving the physical, biological, medical, pharmaceutical, biological materials, and engineering fields.Articles concerning this field appear in a wide variety of journals. With the vast increase in the number of articles and the tendency to fragment science, it becomes increasingly diffcult to keep abreast of the literature and to sort out and evaluate the importance and reliability of the data, especially when proprietary considerations are involved. Abstracts and noncritical articles often do not provide a sufficiently reliable basis for proper assessment of a given field without the additional perusal of the original literature. This journal bridges this gap by publishing authoritative, objective, comprehensive multidisciplinary critical review papers with emphasis on formulation and delivery systems. Both invited and contributed articles are subject to peer review.

Critical Reviews in Toxicology provides up-to-date, objective analyses of topics related to the mechanisms of action, responses, and assessment of health risks due to toxicant exposure. The journal publishes critical, comprehensive reviews of research findings in toxicology and the application of toxicological information in assessing human health hazards and risks. Toxicants of concern include commodity and specialty chemicals such as formaldehyde, acrylonitrile, and pesticides; pharmaceutical agents of all types; consumer products such as macronutrients and food additives; environmental agents such as ambient ozone; and occupational exposures such as asbestos and benzene.

Critical Social Policy is a highly ranked, peer reviewed journal that provides an international forum for advocacy, analysis and debate on social policy issues. Published quarterly, it aims to develop an understanding of welfare from socialist, feminist, anti-racist and radical perspectives.

Critical Sociology seeks to engage and promote critical thinking by publishing articles from all perspectives broadly defined as falling within the boundaries of critical or radical social science. The journal is a platform for scholars whose work explores the relationship between race, gender and class in their quest for a deeper understanding of society writ large. It will continue in this fashion in order to preserve its position as one of a select few "alternative" journals having widespread recognition and respect within the world of social science scholarship.

Critical Studies in Education is one of the few international journals that is solely devoted to a critical sociology of education. Two questions frame the journal's critical approach to research: (1) whose interests are served by current social arrangements in education and, (2) from the standpoint of the least advantaged, what can be done about inequitable arrangements? Informed by this approach, articles published in the journal draw on post-structural, feminist, postcolonial and other critical orientations to critique education systems and to identify alternatives for education policy, practice and research. The journal welcomes submissions of the highest quality and importance, which make original theoretical and/or empirical contributions, and are aimed at moving the field forward. Submissions may be focused on education policy and/or practice (including pedagogy) across formal education contexts (e.g. schooling, vocational and further education, higher education) as well as informal settings (e.g. television, communities, the internet). Submissions typically focus on power relations associated with gender, class (/poverty), ethnicity and the reproduction of disadvantage. Submissions and Review ProcessThe submissions and review process is managed online using ScholarOne. All submissions undergo rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymized refereeing by at least two anonymous referees. Articles are published in English.
