Nicotine & Tobacco Research is one of the world's few peer-reviewed journals devoted exclusively to the study of nicotine and tobacco.It aims to provide a forum for empirical findings, critical reviews, and conceptual papers on the many aspects of nicotine and tobacco, including research from the biobehavioral, neurobiological, molecular biologic, epidemiological, prevention, and treatment arenas.Along with manuscripts from each of the areas mentioned above, the editors encourage submissions that are integrative in nature and that cross traditional disciplinary boundaries.The journal is sponsored by the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco (SRNT). It publishes twelve times a year.

Founded under the editorship of the antiquary W J Thoms, the primary intention of Notes and Queries was, and still remains, the asking and answering of readers' questions. It is devoted principally to English language and literature, lexicography, history, and scholarly antiquarianism.Each issue focuses on the works of a particular period, with an emphasis on the factual rather than the speculative. The first issue of each year is devoted to biological databases, and an issue in July is devoted to papers describing web-based software resources of value to the biological community.NAR Methods Online provides a forum for the online publication of methods papers.The advent of online publication has greatly improved access to scientific content on a global scale. This has led to calls from the academic community for research to be made freely available online immediately upon publication, without the barrier of paid subscription to access.In response to these calls, and following consultation with journal contributors, Oxford University Press and the Editors of Nucleic Acids Research (NAR) launched an Open Access initiative for NAR in 2005. This means that it is no longer necessary to hold a subscription in order to read current NAR content online.There are substantial costs associated with publishing a high quality journal such as NAR, for example in the administration of the editorial process, production of the published version, and development of online functionality. Under a subscription-based model, these costs are primarily covered by charging libraries and individuals for access to the journal's content. Under NAR's Open Access model, we aim to cover the costs of publication primarily through a combination of author charges and institutional payments.

Occupational Medicine is an international peer-reviewed journal which provides vital information for the promotion of workplace health and safety.Topics covered include work-related injury and illness, accident and illness prevention, health promotion, occupational disease, health education, the establishment and implementation of health and safety standards, monitoring of the work environment, and the management of recognized hazards. Contributions are welcomed from practising occupational health physicians and research workers in related fields.

Malacologia is published by the Institute of Malacology (IM). The IM is a not-for-profit organization, incorporated in the state of Michigan, the directors of which are listed under the masthead (see Masthead). The IM meets once each year for the purpose of business and governance of the journal, to select new members to the editorial board and to evaluate journal policies and performance.

For more than 100 years, The Auk has published original reports on the biology of birds. As one of the foremost journals in ornithology, The Auk publishes innovative empirical and theoretical findings. Topics of articles appearing in The Auk include the documentation, analysis, and interpretation of laboratory and field studies, theoretical or methodological developments, and reviews of information or ideas. Authors are encouraged to consider the relevance of their conclusions to general concepts and theories and to taxa in addition to birds.Along with research articles, The Auk also includes Perspectives that are invited by the Editor, Commentaries, Letters to The Auk and reviews of recently released books that are of significance to ornithologists selected by the Book Review Editor.Perspectives are points of view expressed on a particular subject. They are normally solicited by the editor and, beginning with the January 2007 issue, are reviewed externally by at least one person, as well as by the Editor. Authors with proposals for perspectives should contact the Editor.Letters to The Auk provide opportunities to speculate in print, comment on recent issues, topics, and methodologies, provide information of historical or taxonomic interest and comment briefly on papers published in The Auk or to respond to such comments. Letters are reviewed by the Editor and at least one outside reviewer and are published at the discretion of the Editor. Exchanges concerning published papers are strictly limited. The Oxford Journal of Legal Studies is published on behalf of the Faculty of Law in the University of Oxford. It is designed to encourage interest in all matters relating to law, with an emphasis on matters of theory and on broad issues arising from the relationship of law to other disciplines. No topic of legal interest is excluded from consideration. In addition to traditional questions of legal interest, the following are all within the purview of the journal: comparative and international law, the law of the European Community, legal history and philosophy, and interdisciplinary material in areas of relevance.
