Agricultural and Forest Entomology

ISSN: 1461-9555eISSN: 1461-9563
JUFO Level 1

Agricultural and Forest Entomology provides a multi-disciplinary and international forum in which researchers can present their work on all aspects of agricultural and forest entomology to other researchers, policy makers and professionals. The Journal welcomes primary research papers, reviews and short communications on entomological research relevant to the control of insect and other arthropod pests. We invite high quality original research papers on the biology, population dynamics, impact and management of pests of the full range of forest, agricultural and horticultural crops. All cropping systems within these sectors are of interest, including forest plantations, semi-natural forest stands, seed orchards, fruit orchards, agroforestry systems, grassland, arable and horticultural field and protected crops. All papers, including those on insect biology and population dynamics, must be novel and be of applied importance. Papers on population dynamics should focus on the factors which lead to outbreaks of pests or to forecasting these outbreaks. Papers on the management of pests may include the development and use of techniques, such as plant resistance, pheromones, biological control, the economics of pest control and the use of silvicultural and crop management techniques to manage pests. Papers on biology underpinning the development of techniques and strategies of pest management will also be accepted.

Agricultural and Forest Meteorology

ISSN: 0168-1923eISSN: 1873-2240
JUFO Level 3

Agricultural and Forest Meteorologyis an international journal for the publication of original articles and reviews on the inter-relationship between meteorology, agriculture, forestry, and natural ecosystems. Emphasis is on basic and applied scientific research relevant to practical problems in the field of plant and soil sciences, ecology and biogeochemistry as affected by weather as well as climate variability and change. Theoretical models should be tested against experimental data. Articles must appeal to an international audience. Special issues devoted to single topics are also published.Typical topics include canopy micrometeorology (e.g. canopy radiation transfer, turbulence near the ground, evapotranspiration, energy balance, fluxes of trace gases), micrometeorological instrumentation (e.g., sensors for trace gases, flux measurement instruments, radiation measurement techniques), aerobiology (e.g. the dispersion of pollen, spores, insects and pesticides), biometeorology (e.g. the effect of weather and climate on plant distribution, crop yield, water-use efficiency, and plant phenology), forest-fire/weather interactions, and feedbacks from vegetation to weather and the climate system.Keyword index available on http://www.elsevier.com/locate/agrformet-keywords.

Agroforestry Systems

ISSN: 0167-4366eISSN: 1572-9680
JUFO Level 1

Agroforestry Systems is an international scientific journal that publishes results of novel, high impact original research, critical reviews and short communications on any aspect of agroforestry. The journal particularly encourages contributions that demonstrate the role of agroforestry in providing commodity as well non-commodity benefits such as ecosystem services.  Papers dealing with both biophysical and socioeconomic aspects are welcome. These include results of investigations of a fundamental or applied nature dealing with integrated systems involving trees and crops and/or livestock.  Manuscripts that are purely descriptive in nature or confirmatory in nature of well-established findings, and with limited international scope are discouraged.  To be acceptable for publication, the information presented must be relevant to a context wider than the specific location where the study was undertaken, and provide new insight or make a significant contribution to the agroforestry knowledge base.

Annals of Forest Science covers a broad scope including ecology and ecophysiology, genetics and improvement, tree physiology, damages to forests, wood quality, and silviculture. The biological and ecological bases of a sustainable forest management are an important topic for the journal. All forest ecosystems of the world under boreal, temperate and tropical climates are addressed. Annals of Forest Science is an official publication of the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA)

Applied Geography

ISSN: 0143-6228eISSN: 1873-7730
JUFO Level 2

Applied Geography is a journal devoted to the publication of research which utilizes geographic approaches (human, physical, nature-society and GIScience) to resolve human problems that have a spatial dimension. These problems may be related to the assessment, management and allocation of the world's physical and/or human resources. The underlying rationale of the journal is that only through a clear understanding of the relevant societal, physical, and coupled natural-humans systems can we resolve such problems.Papers are invited on any theme involving the application of geographical theory and methodology in the resolution of human problems. This may include papers on the techniques, problems and results of environmental and/or social research, as well as those concerned with the principles, policies and consequences of resource management and allocation. Articles are refereed before publication.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. Applied Vegetation Science

eISSN: 1654-109X
JUFO Level 1

Applied Vegetation Science is administratively linked to the Journal of Vegetation Science. It accepts original papers (including shorter ones), reviews, forum contributions and reports. It commissions reviews of selected books. Applied fields covered by the journal include human impact on vegetation, particularly eutrophication and global change, nature conservation, nature management, restoration of plant communities and habitats of threatened plant species, and the planning of semi-natural and urban landscapes. In addition it publishes book reviews and notices of scientific meetings.

Biomass and Bioenergy

ISSN: 0961-9534eISSN: 1873-2909
JUFO Level 2

Biomass and Bioenergy is an international journal publishing original research papers and short communications, review articles and case studies on biological resources, chemical and biological processes, and biomass products for new renewable sources of energy and materials. The scope of the journal extends to the environmental, management and economic aspects of biomass and bioenergy.Key areas covered by the journal:• Biomass: sources, energy crop production processes, genetic improvements, composition. Please note that research on these biomass subjects must be linked directly to bioenergy generation.• Biological Residues: residues/rests from agricultural production, forestry and plantations (palm, sugar etc), processing industries, and municipal sources (MSW). Papers on the use of biomass residues through innovative processes/technological novelty and/or consideration of feedstock/system sustainability (or unsustainability) are welcomed. However waste treatment processes and pollution control or mitigation which are only tangentially related to bioenergy are not in the scope of the journal, as they are more suited to publications in the environmental arena. Papers that describe conventional waste streams (ie well described in existing literature) that do not empirically address 'new' added value from the process are not suitable for submission to the journal.• Bioenergy Processes: fermentations, thermochemical conversions, liquid and gaseous fuels, and petrochemical substitutes• Bioenergy Utilization: direct combustion, gasification, electricity production, chemical processes, and by-product remediation• Biomass and the Environment: carbon cycle, the net energy efficiency of bioenergy systems, assessment of sustainability, and biodiversity issues. The journal does not accept for review papers on the following subjects:• Performance of fuel combustion in engines• Technical aspects of first generation biofuels• Soil science papers with no direct linking to bioenergy generation• Isolation of yeast/bacterial strains• Purely analytical biochemistry derived studies that have no direct linking to bioenergy generationBenefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more.
