Peer review process

History Australia articles undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process before being accepted for publication.

Publication frequency
From 2003 to 2007 History Australia was published twice a year, in June and December.
From 2008 to 2015, three issues of History Australia were published each year, in April, August and December.
From 2016, four issues of History Australia will be published each year, in March, June, September and December.

Journal History
History Australia replaced the Australian Historical Association’s Bulletin, which was published between 1974 and 2003.
History Australia’s first issue was published in print in 2003. The first issue to be published online was Volume 2 Number 1, the December 2004 issue. The journal's original editor was Emeritus Professor Marian Quartly of Monash University, who saw History Australia through the transition from a print-only journal to an online plus print publication. At the end of 2008, after five full volumes, Emeritus Professor Quartly handed over the editing role to the partnership of Penny Russell and Richard White, both of the University of Sydney. In 2013 the editorship was transferred to Frank Bongiorno, Tomoko Akami and Alexander Cook at the Australian National University. In 2016 the editorship moved to Melanie Oppenheimer, Matthew Fitzpatrick and Catherine Kevin at Flinders University.

Delayed open access
Until the end of 2015 the contents of this journal were available in an open access format 24 month(s) after an issue was published.

History and Anthropology

ISSN: 0275-7206eISSN: 1477-2612
JUFO Level 3

Join the History and Anthropology Facebook group! History and Anthropology continues to address the intersection of history and social sciences, focusing on the interchange between anthropologically-informed history, historically-informed anthropology and the history of ethnographic and anthropological representation. It is now widely perceived that the formerly dominant ahistorical perspectives within anthropology severely restricted interpretation and analysis. Much recent work has therefore been concerned with social change and colonial history and the traditional problems such as symbolism, have been rethought in historical terms. History and Anthropology publishes articles which develop these concerns, and is particularly interested in linking new substantive analyses with critical perspectives on anthropological discourse. The journal publishes studies of: economic, religious and linguistic change; European and non-European colonial systems; transformations of art and material culture; gender in history and culture; encounters with and images of 'others'; the influences of anthropological representations upon indigenous consciousness and culture; the various contributions of anthropology to colonial practice; and the development of ethnological and anthropological ideals and investigative techniques. The editor therefore welcomes regional and thematic studies oriented towards wider analytic or critical issues. All papers should be aimed at the wider group of those interested in anthropology, history and discourse, rather than sub-disciplinary traditions; articles concerned with particular geographic regions or debates should therefore not presume prior knowledge of the area. History and Philosophy of Logic

ISSN: 0144-5340eISSN: 1464-5149
JUFO Level 2

History and Philosophy of Logic contains articles, notes and book reviews dealing with the history and philosophy of logic. 'Logic' is understood to be any volume of knowledge which was regarded as logic at the time in question. 'History' refers back to ancient times and also to work in this century; however, the Editor will not accept articles, including review articles, on very recent work on a topic. 'Philosophy' refers to broad and general questions: specialist articles which are now classed as 'philosophical logic' will not be published. The Editor will consider articles on the relationship between logic and other branches of knowledge, but the component of logic must be substantial. Topics with no temporal specification are to be interpreted both historically and philosophically. Each topic includes its own metalogic where appropriate. All published research articles in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymous refereeing by independent expert referees. Disclaimer Taylor & Francis makes every effort to ensure the accuracy of all the information (the 'Content') contained in its publications. History and Philosophy of the Life Sciences

ISSN: 0391-9714eISSN: 1742-6316
JUFO Level 1

History of Philosophy of the Life Sciences is an interdisciplinary journal committed to providing an integrative approach to understanding the life sciences. In specific terms, it welcomes submissions from biologists, historians, philosophers, and scholars in the social study of science that offer broad and interdisciplinary perspectives on the development of biology, especially as these perspectives illuminate both biology’s scientific development and its larger role in society. Submissions which are collaborative and feature different disciplinary approaches are especially encouraged, as are submissions written by senior and junior scholars (including graduate students). HPLS also welcomes submissions featuring novel formats. While it is anticipated most submissions will represent recent scholarship, they may also include essays on contemporary issues or perspectives, results of unique workshops, and/or discussions featuring a wide-range of perspectives. Papers are published on the understanding that they have not been published before and are not concurrently under offer to any other journal. Authors will usually receive a decision on their articles within 3 months of receipt. The languages of the journal are English, French, German, and Italian; however, other languages can be considered. Book reviews are published only in English.

History and Technology

ISSN: 0734-1512eISSN: 1477-2620
JUFO Level 2

History and Technology serves as an international forum for research on technology in history. Technology—as knowledge, practice, and material resource—has been a key site for constituting the human experience. In the modern era, it becomes central to our understanding of the making and transformation of societies and cultures, on a local or transnational scale. The journal welcomes historical contributions on any aspect of technology but encourages research that addresses this wider frame through commensurate analytic and critical approaches. The journal also stimulates dialogue between history of technology and allied fields in history and the humanities, with the aim of exploring common issues in explanation, interpretation, and methodology.
