In-depth studies of all kinds of fossils, of the mode of life of ancient organisms and structure of their skeletons are welcome, as those offering stratigraphically ordered evidence of evolution. Work on vertebrates and applications of fossil evidence to developmental studies, both ontogeny and astogeny of clonal organisms, have a long tradition in our journal. Evolution of the biosphere and its ecosystems, as inferred from geochemical evidence, has also been the focus of studies published in the journal.The language of the journal is English. Submissions may be in the form of articles, brief reports, discussions, or paper/book reviews. Papers are evaluated on the originality of data, interpretations, and ideas, and on the degree to which their findings can be generalized. All papers are subject to peer reviews.Articles accepted for publication are usually published in order of submission. Exceptions are made for papers of particular scientific significance, and for manuscripts which fully comply with editorial requirements given in the instruction for authors and require only minor changes.

Advances in Astronomy is a peer-reviewed, open access journal that publishes original research articles as well as review articles in all areas of astronomy and astrophysics.

Advances in Atmospheric Sciences, launched in 1984, offers rapid publication of original scientific papers on the dynamics, physics and chemistry of the atmosphere and ocean. It reports on the latest achievements and developments in the atmospheric sciences, including marine meteorology and meteorology-associated geophysics, as well as the theoretical and practical aspects of these disciplines. The coverage includes weather systems, numerical weather prediction, climate dynamics and variability, satellite meteorology, remote sensing, air chemistry and the boundary layer, clouds and weather modification, can be found in the journal. Papers describing the application of new mathematics or new instruments are also collected here. Advances in Atmospheric Sciences is sponsored by The Chinese Committee for International Association of Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences (IAMAS), and the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Advances in Meteorology is a peer-reviewed, open access journal that publishes original research articles as well as review articles in all areas of meteorology.

The COSPAR publication Advances in Space Research (ASR) is an open journal covering all areas of space research including: space studies of the Earth's surface, meteorology, climate, the Earth-Moon system, planets and small bodies of the solar system, upper atmospheres, ionospheres and magnetospheres of the Earth and planets including reference atmospheres, space plasmas in the solar system, astrophysics from space, materials sciences in space, life sciences as related to space, fundamental physics in space, space debris, space weather, earth observations of space phenomena, etc.All submissions are reviewed by two scientists in the field. COSPAR is an interdisciplinary scientific organization concerned with the progress of space research on an international scale. African Invertebrates is an international peer-reviewed journal that covers the taxonomy, systematics, biology, biogeography, ecology, conservation and palaeontology of Afrotropical invertebrates, whether terrestrial, freshwater or marine, published jointly by the Council of the KwaZulu-Natal Museum and Pensoft Publishers. A printed version of the journal is produced twice a year. All contributions are published in English (British Standard), with an option to add an abstract in any other language that uses Latin or Cyrillic alphabet. When preparing manuscripts, authors are encouraged to make use of extensive holdings of the KwaZulu-Natal Museum and other South African museums and collections, and to deposit holotypes (paratypes) and voucher specimens in recognised South African institutions.

The African Journal of Emergency Medicine (AfJEM) is the official journal of the African Federation for Emergency Medicine. It is an international, peer-reviewed journal aimed in particular at supporting emergency care across Africa. AfJEM publishes original research, reviews, brief reports of scientific investigations, case reports as well as commentary and correspondence related to topics of scientific, ethical, social and economic importance to emergency care in Africa. Articles will be of direct importance to African emergency care, but may have originated from elsewhere in the world.

The journal publishes papers of international significance relating to the science, economics, and policy of agricultural water management. In all cases, manuscripts must address implications and provide insight regarding agricultural water management.The primary topics that we consider are the following:• Farm-level and regional water management• Crop water relations, crop yields and water productivity • Irrigation, drainage, and salinity in cultivated areas• Salinity management and strategies for improving the use of saline water in agriculture• Rainwater harvesting and crop water management in rainfed areas• Use of wastewater and other low quality waters in agriculture • Groundwater management in agriculture and conjunctive use of groundwater and surface water• Implications of groundwater and surface water management on nutrient cycling• Exploitation and protection of agricultural water resources.Additional topics of interest include interactions between agricultural water management and the environment (flooding, soil erosion, nutrient loss and depletion, non-point source pollution, water quality, desertification, and the potential implications of global climate change for agricultural water management), and the institutional and regulatory aspects of agricultural water management (water pricing, allocation and competition).Papers in these categories must draw direct and practical linkages to agricultural water management. Manuscripts drawing generalised conclusions, such as that competition for water will increase in future, or that less water will be available for agriculture, are unlikely to be considered.Also, manuscripts describing basic soil-water-plant relationships, basic engineering and hydrology, or methods of estimating evapotranspiration will be considered only if the discussion is relevant to the active management of water in agriculture and the information enhances international literature.

Agricultural and Forest Meteorologyis an international journal for the publication of original articles and reviews on the inter-relationship between meteorology, agriculture, forestry, and natural ecosystems. Emphasis is on basic and applied scientific research relevant to practical problems in the field of plant and soil sciences, ecology and biogeochemistry as affected by weather as well as climate variability and change. Theoretical models should be tested against experimental data. Articles must appeal to an international audience. Air Quality, Atmosphere, and Health is a multidisciplinary journal which, by its very name, illustrates the broad range of work it publishes and which focuses on atmospheric consequences of human activities and their implications for human and ecological health. It offers research papers, critical literature reviews and commentaries, as well as special issues devoted to topical subjects or themes. International in scope, the journal presents papers that inform and stimulate a global readership, as the topic addressed are global in their import. Consequently, we do not encourage submission of papers involving local data that relate to local problems. Unless they demonstrate wide applicability, these are better submitted to national or regional journals.
