Applied Mechanics Reviews (AMR) is an international review journal that serves as a premier venue for dissemination of material across all sub-disciplines of applied mechanics and engineering science, including fluid and solid mechanics, heat transfer, dynamics and vibration, and applications. AMR provides an archival repository for state-of-the-art and retrospective survey articles and reviews of research areas and curricular developments across all sub-disciplines of applied mechanics. The journal invites commentary on research and education policy in different countries and regions in the area of applied mechanics, including material that provides an international comparison of different regional frameworks for collaboration and networking. The journal also invites original tutorial and educational material in applied mechanics targeting non-specialist audiences, including undergraduate and K-12 students.

The aim of Applied Ocean Research is to encourage the submission of papers that advance the state of knowledge in a range of topics relevant to ocean engineering. Applied Optics is OSA's most widely read journal, a must for everyone in the optics field. Published three times each month, Applied Optics reports significant optics applications from optical testing and instrumentation to medical optics...from holography to optical neural networks...from lidar and remote sensing to laser materials processing. Each issue contains content from three divisions of editorial scope: Optical Technology; Information Processing; and Lasers, Photonics, and Environmental Optics. Applied Physics Express (APEX) is a letter journal devoted solely to rapid dissemination of up-to-date and concise reports on new findings in applied physics. APEX is the successor to the Japanese Journal of Applied Physics (JJAP) letter section, JJAP Part 2, and not only has inherited the world-wide recognition of JJAP Part 2 (Letters and Express Letters), but also further promotes its strength in high scientific quality and prompt publication. In the journal policy, special emphasis is placed on high scientific and/or technological impact of its published papers.

Applied Sciences (ISSN 2076-3417) provides an advanced forum on all aspects of applied natural sciences. It publishes reviews, research papers and communications. Our aim is to encourage scientists to publish their experimental and theoretical results in as much detail as possible. There is no restriction on the length of the papers. The full experimental details must be provided so that the results can be reproduced. Electronic files and software regarding the full details of the calculation or experimental procedure, if unable to be published in a normal way, can be deposited as supplementary electronic material., Arts (ISSN 2076-0752) an international, peer-reviewed scholarly open access journal which provides a forum for scholarship and visual exploration in the visual, performing and ancient arts. It publishes forms of art production and practices, studies, criticism and theories from artists, historians and all other writers in the arts focused to promote dialogues and debates. Articles and essays devoted to a general readership interested in arts as well as those for students and professors in high school are also welcome. Arts welcomes submissions from authors and artists around the world and is published quarterly in March, June, September and December.

Applied Thermal Engineering publishes original, high-quality research papers and ancillary features, spanning activities ranging from fundamental research to trouble-shooting in existing plant and equipment.Component and system design covers energy use both in the process and power industries, and in buildings, including passive thermal design techniques. For the former, the design problems associated with the integration of components into overall plant are also covered. Additionally, the reduction of water use and pollution prevention are of interest.The journal features aspects of the thermal engineering of advanced processes, including process integration, intensification and development, together with the application of thermal equipment in process plants. The optimisation of processes to maximise performance is also included.A wide range of equipment is relevant to Applied Thermal Engineering, such as heat exchangers (compact and advanced designs), heat pumps and refrigeration plant, heat pipes, combined heat and power and advanced cycles, polygeneration, heat transfer enhancement as applied to the above, and other unit operations involving thermal engineering procedures, including those related to renewable sources.The application of thermal engineering is becoming critical in specific areas such as aerospace, electronics thermal management and medicine, as well as equipment used by the armed forces. Papers on such challenging applications are often a springboard for technology transfer to other areas, and are encouraged. Short communications in the form of 'Case Studies' will be considered.A theme running through many papers will be energy. Energy conservation, including heat recovery, the rational use of energy and renewable energy technologies are inevitable features of thermal engineering across all applications. As we see an increasing interest in the use of, for example, renewable energy including solar energy in the process industries, the integration of renewable energy and 'conventional' processes is a topic of relevance. Improved efficiency and alternative equipment for reducing emissions is an increasingly important aspect of all energy use.Economics plays a necessary role in the assessment of many thermal engineering projects. Submissions devoted to or considering the financial implications of equipment designs are welcome. Information on the different economic criteria applying in particular regions of the world is relevant.Review articles on appropriate topics are encouraged. Now, a decade into the new century, pluralism, parametricism and plagiarism reign, though the AR is still sceptical of fashions and fads, believing architecture to be, at its core, a socially responsible art. As with all media, it becomes impossible to tell how far the AR has accurately recounted the preoccupations and ideals of several generations, and how far it has defined and shaped them. Yet though over time it has (sometimes often radically) changed in format, design and personnel, it still maintains a spirit of constancy and continuity. As the AR's immense archive is gradually digitised, its deep historical roots will hopefully inform, enlighten and reconnect with new generations of readers. .
