Knowledge and Management of Aquatic Ecosystems (KMAE-Bulletin Français de la Pêche et de la Pisciculture since 1928) serves as a foundation for scientific advice across the broad spectrum of management and conservation issues related to freshwater ecosystems. The journal publishes articles, short communications, reviews, comments and replies that contribute to a scientific understanding of freshwater ecosystems and the impact of human activities upon these systems. Its scope includes economic, social, and public administration studies, in so far as they are directly concerned with the management of freshwater ecosystems (e.g. European Water Framework Directive, USA Clean Water Act, Canadian Water Quality Guidelines, …) and prove of general interest to freshwater specialists. Papers on insular freshwater ecosystems and on transitional waters or estuaries are welcome.
Numerous journals publish papers on systematic and / or morphological research. It is not easy to keep track of them all and to decide which one is the best journal to submit a given manuscript to. In order to assist others with finding the right journal for their manuscripts, I decided to put a list of journals on my websites that publish papers in the abovementioned areas. The list comes in two versions: one is alphabetical, in the other the journals are ranked by the average number of citations an article receives in the year after its publication.
Lake and Reservoir Management (LRM) publishes original, previously unpublished studies relevant to lake and reservoir management. Papers address the management of lakes and reservoirs, their watersheds and tributaries, along with the limnology and ecology needed for sound management of these systems. Case studies that advance the science of lake management or confirm important management concepts are appropriate. Papers on economic, social, regulatory and policy aspects of lake management are also welcome with appropriate supporting data. Literature syntheses and papers developing a conceptual foundation of lake and watershed ecology will be considered for publication, but are not the primary focus of this journal. Shorter notes that add to an important and documented base of knowledge or that convey important early results of long-term studies will also be considered if the contribution is significant. All submissions are subject to peer review to assure uniformity and high quality in materials published by NALMS. Typical areas of study addressed in LRM papers include: * Assessment of lake resources, uses, problems and threats * Monitoring methods or programs and their implications for management * Ecology and management of invasive species * Evaluation of in-lake management approaches and impacts * Evaluation of watershed-based management approaches and impacts * Social and economic dimensions of lake management LRM functions as a record of advances in lake management and a resource for lake managers, researchers and policy makers. Papers must demonstrate relevance to lake management, integrate findings with current knowledge, apply sound study design and data analysis, and convey an important message clearly and concisely.
Lakes & Reservoirs: Research and Management is the official publication of the International Lake Environment Committee Foundation (ILEC). The Journal aims to promote environmentally sound management of natural and artificial lakes, consistent with sustainable development policies. The Journal publishes international research on the management and conservation of lakes and reservoirs to facilitate the international exchange of results.
Land (ISSN 2073-445X) is an international and cross-disciplinary scholarly journal of land resources and soil science. It publishes reviews, regular research papers, communications and short notes, and there is no restriction on the length of the papers. Our aim is to encourage scientists to publish their experimental and theoretical research in as much detail as possible. Full experimental and/or methodical details must be provided for research articles. There are, in addition, unique features of this journal:
Land Degradation & Development is an international journal which seeks to promote rational study of the recognition, monitoring, control and rehabilitation of degradation in terrestrial environments. The journal focuses on:
Land Economics is dedicated to the study of land use, natural resources, public utilities, housing, and urban land issues. Established in 1925 by the renowned economist and founder of the American Economic Association, Richard T. Ely, at the University of Wisconsin, Land Economics has consistently published innovative, conceptual, and empirical research of direct relevance to economists. Each issue brings the latest results in international applied research on such topics as transportation, energy, urban and rural land use, housing, environmental quality, public utilities, and natural resources.
Land Use Policy is an international and interdisciplinary journal concerned with the social, economic, political, legal, physical and planning aspects of urban and rural land use. It provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and information from the diverse range of disciplines and interest groups which must be combined to formulate effective land use policies. The journal examines issues in geography, agriculture, forestry, irrigation, environmental conservation, housing, urban development and transport in both developed and developing countries through major refereed articles and shorter viewpoint pieces.Land Use Policy aims to provide policy guidance to governments and planners and it is also a valuable teaching resource.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. Landscape Ecology is the flagship journal of a well-established and rapidly developing interdisciplinary science that focuses explicitly on the ecological understanding of spatial heterogeneity. Landscape Ecology draws together expertise from both biophysical and socioeconomic sciences to explore basic and applied research questions concerning the ecology, conservation, management, design/planning, and sustainability of landscapes as coupled human-environment systems.  Landscape ecology studies are characterized by spatially explicit methods in which spatial attributes and arrangements of landscape elements are directly analyzed and related to ecological processes. All manuscripts must show a keen awareness of the current literature and an immediate relevance to at least one of the following key topics:  (1) Flows and redistributions of organisms, materials, and energy in landscape mosaics; (2) Landscape connectivity and fragmentation; (3) Ecosystem services in dynamic landscapes (especially, tradeoffs
The mission of landscape architecture is supported by research and theory in many fields. Landscape Journal offers in-depth exploration of ideas and challenges that are central to contemporary design, planning, and teaching. Besides scholarly features, Landscape Journal also includes editorial columns, creative work, reviews of books, conferences, technology, and exhibitions Landscape Journal digs deeper into the field by providing articles from: landscape architects geographers architects planners artists historians ecologists poets
Topic areas include: * environmental design * countryside management * ecology and environmental conservation * land surveying * human and physical geography * behavioural and cultural studies * archaeology and history Landscape Research is the journal of the Landscape Research Group which is a registered charity established to advance education and research, encourage interest and exchange information for public benefit in the field of landscape and any related field. Landscape and Ecological Engineering is published by the International Consortium of Landscape and Ecological Engineering with the aim of protecting and improving the environment in the face of biodiversity loss, desertification, global warming, and other environmental conditions. The journal presents original papers, reports, reviews and technical notes on all aspects of conservation, restoration, and management of ecosystems. Its scope is not limited to purely scientific approaches, but welcomes technological and design approaches that provide useful and practical solutions to today's environmental problems. The coverage is relevant to students and researchers at universities and institutes, while its emphasis on the practical application of research will interest all decision makers dealing with landscape planning and management problems. The Editor-in-Chief of Landscape and Ecological Engineering is Takashi Asaeda, Saitama University, Japan.
