The goal of this journal is to create a forum for discussion of moral issues arising from actual or projected social policies in regard to a wide range of questions. Among these are ethical questions concerning the responsibilities of agricultural producers, the assessment of technological changes affecting farm populations, the utilization of farmland and other resources, the deployment of intensive agriculture, the modification of ecosystems, animal welfare, the professional responsibilities of agrologists, veterinarians, or food scientists, the use of biotechnology, the safety, availability, and affordability of food.The journal publishes scientific articles that are relevant to ethical issues, as well as philosophical papers and brief discussion pieces, and book reviews.
The Journal of Analytical Toxicology (JAT) is a peer-reviewed international publication devoted to the timely dissemination of scientific communications concerning the isolation, identification, and quantitation of drugs and other potentially toxic substances. Since its inception in 1977, JAT has striven to present state-of-the-art techniques that address current issues in toxicology.With an emphasis on practical application, JAT articles introduce improved and novel techniques for use in clinical, forensic, workplace, sports testing (doping), and other toxicology laboratories. Articles describe newly developed methods in immunoassay testing, gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, atomic absorption spectrometry, solid- and liquid-phase extraction techniques, as well as other analytical approaches.The methods published in JAT describe the chemical analysis of drugs of abuse, pharmaceuticals, industrial chemicals, environmental toxins, chemical weapons, and sports doping agents in biological samples. The methods are generally applicable to therapeutic drug monitoring, abused drugs, clinical and forensic toxicology, workplace exposure, chemical warfare, and sports doping.
The Journal of Atmospheric Chemistry is devoted to the study of the chemistry of the Earth's atmosphere, with particular emphasis on the region below about 100 km. The strongly interdisciplinary nature of atmospheric chemistry means that it embraces a great variety of sciences, but the journal concentrates on such topics as: Observational, interpretative and modeling studies of the composition of air and precipitation and the physiochemical processes in the Earth's atmosphere, excluding air pollution problems of local importance only; the role of the atmosphere in biogeochemical cycles; the chemical interaction of the oceans, land surface and biosphere with the atmosphere; laboratory studies of the mechanics in homogeneous and heterogeneous transformation processes in the atmosphere; descriptions of major advances in instrumentation developed for the measurement of atmospheric composition and chemical properties.
The Journal of Contaminant Hydrology is an international journal publishing scientific articles pertaining to the contamination of groundwater. Emphasis is placed on investigations of the physical, chemical, and biological processes influencing the behaviour of organic and inorganic contaminants in both the unsaturated (vadose) and saturated zones. The Journal of Environmental Radioactivity provides a coherent international forum for publication of original research or review papers on any aspect of the occurrence of radioactivity in natural systems.Relevant subject areas range from applications of environmental radionuclides as mechanistic or timescale tracers of natural processes to assessments of the radioecological or radiological effects of ambient radioactivity. Papers deal with naturally occurring nuclides or with those created and released by man through nuclear weapons manufacture and testing, energy production, fuel-cycle technology, etc. Reports on radioactivity in the oceans, sediments, rivers, lakes, groundwaters, soils, atmosphere and all divisions of the biosphere are welcomed, but these should not simply be of a monitoring nature unless the data are particularly innovative.Research papers are also included which, by either experimental or theoretical approaches, aim towards an improved understanding of the behaviour, transfer and distribution of environmental radionuclides. Predictive modelling is particularly encouraged. Papers on dating methods are acceptable if they have clear geophysical or geochemical significance. Descriptions of experimental methods should be both highly original and specifically related to determination of low-level environmental activities.The journal provides a vehicle for objective, open and peer-reviewed publication and discussion of the more controversial aspects of environmental radioactivity, including assessments of health effects, criteria for discharge control and options for ultimate disposal of nuclear wastes.Publication in this field is also encouraged in the related book series Radioactivity in the Environment designed to complement the coverage of the journal.

The journal welcomes papers in all topics of hydraulics, in particular articles on sustainable water management, water-health issues, environmental hydraulics, eco-hydraulics, coastal engineering and integration of hydraulics with hydrology. Inter-disciplinary problems and linkage of theory to field application are particularly encouraged. Solutions of water problems in the form of prediction models, flow simulations, engineering systems, monitoring, management strategies covering basic scientific investigations and/or experimental studies of flow behaviour, hydrodynamics, fate and transport of aquatic constituents, and related biological and chemical processes are all within the scope of the Journal.
The unique features of the Asia-Pacific region in terms of population density, economic growth, landscape, tradition and history require special treatment of water problems in the region. Each research article in the journal will contain a section describing actual or potential applications to the Asia-Pacific region. This will provide an effective forum for technical exchanges, joint projects, and technology transfer.
In addition to research articles, the journal also publishes review papers, invited papers, book reviews and technical communications.
