Journal Guide

Genes & Genomics is an official journal of the Korean Genetics Society (http://kgenetics.or.kr/). Although it is an official publication of the Genetics Society of Korea, membership of the Society is not required for contributors. It is a peer-reviewed international journal publishing print (ISSN 1976-9571) and online version (E-ISSN 2092-9293). It covers all disciplines of genetics and genomics from prokaryotes to eukaryotes from fundamental heredity to molecular aspects. The articles can be reviews, research articles, and short communications.

The journal does not exclude the topics of plant biology, development biology, immunology, cancer, and disease biology if the experiment and subsequent analyses are viewed as genetics and genomics. Genes & Genomics will publish only electronic version of articles from 2014. All contents are available in web (http://link.springer.com/journal/13258). 

Genes & Immunity emphasizes studies that demonstrate genetic, genomic or functional variation in the immune system, and assist our understanding of how the basic control over the immune system varies between individuals both in health and disease. The emerging role for genes outside the MHC will be of particular interest.

Genes & Cancer, peer-reviewed and published monthly, covers all aspects of the structure and function of oncogenes, growth suppressor and apoptotic genes, and the mechanisms by which their expression and function are altered during tumor development. In addition to publishing manuscripts that directly relate to these areas of research, articles in Genes & Cancer explore the emerging areas of genomics, drug development, and systems biology.

Genes & Diseases is an international journal for molecular and translational medicine. The journal primarily focuses on publishing investigations on the molecular bases and experimental therapeutics of human diseases. Publication formats include full length research article, review article, short communication, correspondence, perspectives, commentary, views on news, and research watch.

Aims and Scopes

Genes & Diseases publishes rigorously peer-reviewed and high quality original articles and authoritative reviews that focus on the molecular bases of human diseases. Emphasis will be placed on hypothesis-driven, mechanistic studies relevant to pathogenesis and/or experimental therapeutics of human diseases. The journal has worldwide authorship, and a broad scope in basic and translational biomedical research of molecular biology, molecular genetics, and cell biology, including but not limited to cell proliferation and apoptosis, signal transduction, stem cell biology, developmental biology, gene regulation and epigenetics, cancer biology, immunity and infection, neuroscience, disease-specific animal models, gene and cell-based therapies, and regenerative medicine.

Genes to Cells provides an international forum for the publication of papers describing important aspects of molecular and cellular biology. The journal aims to present papers that provide conceptual advance in the relevant field. Particular emphasis will be placed on work aimed at understanding the basic mechanisms underlying biological events.

Genes, Brain and Behavior is a new journal publishing top quality research in behavioral and neural genetics in its broadest sense. The emphasis is on the analysis of the behavioral and neural phenotypes under consideration, the unifying theme being the genetic approach as a tool to increase our understanding of these phenotypes. Genes Brain and Behavior is pleased to offer the following features:.

Genes, Chromosomes & Cancer will offer rapid publication of original full-length research articles , perspectives , reviews , letters to the editors , as well as editorial commentaries on genetic analysis as related to the study of neoplasia. Particular emphasis will be placed on work combining molecular and cytogenetic analyses of the genomic alterations of cancer cells. While preference will be given to research using analytical approaches, descriptive studies and case reports will also be welcomed, particularly when they offer insights regarding basic biologic mechanisms or the clinical management of neoplastic disorders. Specific areas covered will include:

G3: Genes, Genomes, Genetics provides a forum for the publication of high-quality foundational research, particularly research that generates datasets such as genome maps, single gene studies, genome-wide association and QTL studies, as well as mutant screens and advances in methods and technology. The Editorial Board of G3 believes that rapid dissemination of these data is the necessary foundation for analysis that leads to mechanistic insights.

Genetic Epidemiology is a peer-reviewed journal for discussion of research on the genetic causes of the distribution of human traits in families and populations. Emphasis is placed on the relative contribution of genetic and environmental factors to human disease as revealed by genetic, epidemiological, and biologic investigations. Incorporation of underlying biology and population genetics into conceptual models is favored. The Journal seeks original articles comprising either applied research or innovative statistical, computational, or genomic methodologies that advance studies in genetic epidemiology. Other types of reports are encouraged, such as letters to the editor, topic reviews, and perspectives from other fields of research that will likely enrich the field of genetic epidemiology.

Methods for artificial evolution of active components are rapidly developing branches of adaptive computation and adaptive engineering. They entail the development, evaluation and application of methods that mirror the process of neo-Darwinian evolution. Genetic Programming and Evolvable Machines reports innovative and significant progress in automatic evolution of software and hardware. It features both theoretical and application papers and covers hardware implementations, artificial life, molecular computing and emergent computation techniques. In addition to its main topics, the journal covers related topics such as evolutionary algorithms with variable-size genomes, alternate methods of program induction, approaches to engineering systems development based on embryology, morphogenesis or other techniques inspired by adaptive natural systems.

Genetic Resources and Crop Evolution covers all aspects of plant genetic resources research with original articles in taxonomical, morphological, physiological, biochemical, genetic, cytological or ethnobotanical research on genetic resources and includes contributions to gene bank management: collecting, maintenance, evaluation, storage and documentation.Areas of interest include crop evolution, domestication, crop-weed relationships, agrobiodiversity related wild species and the history of cultivated plants including palaeoethnobotany. Genetic Resources and Crop Evolution also presents short communications on such topics as newly described crop taxa, nomenclatural notes, reports of collecting missions, and evaluation results of gene bank material, as well as book reviews of important publications in the field of genetic resources. All contributions are in English and are subject to peer review.The journal is the international continuation of the German periodical Die Kulturpflanze.

Genetic Testing and Molecular Biomarkers is the leading peer-reviewed journal covering all aspects of genetic testing including molecular biomarkers.
