Digital Earth is a virtual representation of the planet, encompassing all its systems and forms, including human societies, manifested as a multi-dimensional, multi-scale, multi-temporal, and multi-layer information facility. The Digital Earth vision encompasses the vast array of technologies, information frameworks, organizational standards, along with applications across a spectrum of disciplines, and many educational and grassroots operational needs.Digital Earth is a global initiative aimed at harnessing the world's data and information resources to develop a virtual 3-D model of the Earth in order to monitor, measure, and forecast natural and human activity on the planet. The International Journal of Digital Earth is a response to this initiative. This international, peer-reviewed research journal will focus on knowledge-based solutions to build and advance applications to improve human conditions, protect ecological services and support future sustainable development for environmental, social, and economic conditions.International Journal of Digital Earth is concerned with the science and technology of Digital Earth and its applications in all major disciplines. The journal has a wide range of interest, but the principal topics are: Digital Earth Framework, Digital Earth Applications, Digital Earth Architecture and Standards, Digital Earth and Earth Systems, Geoinformatics, Geo-spatial Science, Mobile Mapping Systems, Visualization and Numerical Simulation, Visible and Microwave Earth Observation, Data Fusion and Integration Algorithm, Data Mining and Artificial Intelligence, Data Processing, Earth System and Global Databases, Remote Sensing - GIS 8211; GPS, Global Environmental Change and Discrete Global Grids. The journal contains primary research papers on basic science, techniques and applications, review articles, short technical notes and a section of technical Letters containing material that merits fast publication.Thoughts on International Journal of Digital Earth8220;We clearly see the broad benefits from the publication of the International Journal of Digital Earth. DOAJ Logo
JUFO Level 1

The International Journal of Disaster Risk Science is an interdisciplinary English language journal that publishes research papers addressing theoretical and methodological issues in disaster risk science, emergency response technology, and risk management: disaster risk governance policies and regulations: and case studies and comparative research internationally on responses to major disasters. Its primary aim is to create an exchange platform for researchers, practitioners, and policy makers in the field of disaster and risk to communicate, learn, and progress in order to improve the international, national and regional capacities for disaster risk analysis, management, and governance. The journal promotes International Human Dimensions Program on Global Environmental Change--Integrated Risk Governance Project or IHDP-IRG research under the strategic framework of global change research, including revealing the dynamic processes of disaster risk, especially catastrophic disaster risk formation, based on an adequate understanding of global, regional, and local social-ecological systems change: establishing a 'transition in and out' risk governance model targeting catastrophic disasters exceeding the existing coping capacities through case studies and comparative analyses: refining the various models and modeling tools for catastrophic disaster risk governance: and creating and improving an integrated disaster risk science that can meet the challenges for sustainable development. The journal covers a wide range of disaster risks, including natural disaster risk: environmental and ecological disaster risks related to the conditions of the natural environment: technological risk and the risk of infectious diseases: and new risk factors related to global change, energy and water security, food security, international trade, and so on.
