Journal Guide

The objective of the journal is to provide practical information of immediate relevance to workers in clinical laboratories. The primary scope of the journal covers clinical chemistry, hematology, molecular biology and genetics relevant to laboratory medicine, microbiology, immunology, therapeutic drug monitoring and toxicology, laboratory management and informatics.

We welcome papers which describe critical evaluations of biomarkers and their role in the diagnosis and treatment of clinically significant disease, validation of commercial and in-house IVD methods, method comparisons, interference reports, the development of new reagents and reference materials, reference range studies and regulatory compliance reports. Manuscripts describing the development of new methods applicable to laboratory medicine (including point-of-care testing) are particularly encouraged, even if preliminary or small scale.

While novel or innovative work is preferred, papers of a confirmatory nature will also be considered if they are scientifically and technically valid and relevant to important topics.

Progress in Histochemistry and Cytochemistry publishes comprehensive and analytical reviews within the entire field of histochemistry and cytochemistry. Methodological contributions as well as papers in the fields of applied histo- and cytochemistry (e.g. cell biology, pathology, clinical disciplines) will be accepted.

The role of lipids, including essential fatty acids and their prostaglandin, leukotriene and other derivatives, is now evident in almost all areas of biomedical science. Cell membrane behaviour and cell signalling in all tissues are highly dependent on the lipid constituents of cells. Prostaglandins, Leukotrienes & Essential Fatty Acids aims to cover all aspects of the roles of lipids in cellular, organ and whole organism function, and places a particular emphasis on human studies. Papers concerning all medical specialties are published. Proteomes (ISSN 2227-7382) is an open access, peer reviewed journal on all aspects of proteome science. Proteomes covers the multi-disciplinary topics of structural and functional biology, protein chemistry, cell biology, methodology used for protein analysis, including mass spectrometry, protein arrays, bioinformatics, HTS assays, etc. Our aim is to encourage scientists to publish their experimental and theoretical results in as much detail as possible.
