DOAJ Logo

South African Journal of Chemical Engineering, SAJCE, aims to be the principal open access journal for publication of high quality, original papers in all areas of chemical engineering. The journal is fully international with contributions encouraged from both within and outside South Africa. In addition to publishing full research articles the journal also welcomes review papers and shorter communications.

The journal has a particular interest in publishing papers on the unique issues facing chemical engineering taking place in countries that are rich in resources but face specific technical and societal challenges, which require detailed knowledge of local conditions to address.

Core topic areas are:
Environmental process engineering
• treatment and handling of waste and pollutants
• the abatement of pollution, environmental process control
• cleaner technologies
• waste minimization
• environmental chemical engineering
• water treatment
Reaction Engineering
• modelling and simulation of reactors
• transport phenomena within reacting systems
• fluidization technology
• reactor design
Separation technologies
• classic separations
• novel separations
Process and materials synthesis
• novel synthesis of materials or processes, including but not limited to nanotechnology, ceramics, etc.
Metallurgical process engineering and coal technology
• novel developments related to the minerals beneficiation industry
• coal technology
Chemical engineering education
• guides to good practice
• novel approaches to learning
• education beyond university

Submissions are not restricted to the above fields and topics and the journal is keen to receive papers covering the broad range of topics within and allied to chemical engineering. This list is to include, amongst other topics, process safety; food engineering; bioprocess engineering; sustainability, thermodynamics and energy research.

Tetrahedron: Asymmetry

ISSN: 0957-4166eISSN: 1362-511X
JUFO Level 1

Tetrahedron: Asymmetry presents experimental or theoretical research results of outstanding significance and timeliness on asymmetry in organic, inorganic, organometallic and physical chemistry, as well as its application to related disciplines, especially bio-organic chemistry. The journal publishes critical reviews, original research articles and preliminary communications dealing with all aspects of the chemical, physical and theoretical properties of non-racemic organic and inorganic materials and processes. Topics relevant to the journal include: the physico-chemical and biological properties of enantiomers; strategies and methodologies of asymmetric synthesis; resolution; chirality recognition and enhancement; analytical techniques for assessing enantiomeric purity and the unambiguous determination of absolute configuration; and molecular graphics and modelling methods for interpreting and predicting asymmetric phenomena. Papers describing the synthesis or properties of non-racemic molecules will be required to include a separate statement in the form of a Stereochemistry Abstract, for publication in the same issue, of the criteria used for the assignment of configuration and enantiomeric purity.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. Topics in Organometallic Chemistry

ISSN: 1436-6002eISSN: 1616-8534
JUFO Level 1

The series Topics in Organometallic Chemistry presents critical overviews of research results in organometallic chemistry. As our understanding of organometallic structure, properties and mechanisms increases, new ways are opened for the design of organometallic compounds and reactions tailored to the needs of such diverse areas as organic synthesis, medical research, biology and materials science. Thus the scope of coverage includes a broad range of topics of pure and applied organometallic chemistry, where new breakthroughs are being achieved that are of significance to a larger scientific audience. The individual volumes of Topics in Organometallic Chemistry are thematic. Review articles are generally invited by the volume editors.

Transport in Porous Media

ISSN: 0169-3913eISSN: 1573-1634
JUFO Level 1

Transport in Porous Media publishes original research on the physical and chemical aspects of transport of extensive quantities such as mass of a fluid phase, mass of a component of a phase, momentum and energy, in single and multiphase flow in a (possibly deformable) porous medium domain. These are presented in the context of chemical, civil, agricultural, petroleum and mechanical engineering. Transport phenomena, understood from the microscopic scale upward, form the basis for deterministic and stochastic models that describe them. The models are adaptable to describe flow and contaminant transport in aquifers; oil and gas movement in petroleum reservoirs; solvent drives and enhanced oil recovery; heat and mass transport in packed bed reactors in chemical engineering, in geothermal reservoirs and in building materials; spread of pollutants from radioactive waste repositories; filtration processes, and biomedical studies of fluid and chemical transport in lungs and other organs.
