JUFO Level 1

Fibres & Textiles in Eastern Europe is a scientific journal, published in English with Polish abstracts, devoted to scientific research & development of the manufacturing and processing of fibre-grade polymers, including biopolymers, fibres, fibrous products, and textile technologies. Some of the problems discussed in the journal are trends in fibre development, theory and practice of new technologies and techniques for manufacturing and modifying polymers, fibres and textiles, among others, by means of waste free, biotechnological processes and the manufacturing of special fibres and fibrous products, especially from modified natural and synthetic polymers such as cellulose derivatives, lignins, chitin and chitosan. Special attention is paid to works presenting problems related to bioactivity, biocompatibility, biodegradability, textile waste utilisation and waste-water.

Fish and Fisheries

ISSN: 1467-2960eISSN: 1467-2979
JUFO Level 3

Fish and Fisheries adopts a broad, interdisciplinary approach to the subject of fish biology and fisheries. It draws contributions in the form of major synoptic papers and syntheses or meta-analyses that lay out new approaches, re-examine existing findings, methods or theory, and discuss papers and commentaries from diverse areas. Focal areas include fish palaeontology, molecular biology and ecology, genetics, biochemistry, physiology, ecology, behaviour, evolutionary studies, conservation, assessment, population dynamics, mathematical modelling, ecosystem analysis and the social, economic and policy aspects of fisheries where they are grounded in a scientific approach. A paper in Fish and Fisheries must draw upon all key elements of the existing literature on a topic, normally have a broad geographic and/or taxonomic scope, and provide general points which make it compelling to a wide range of readers whatever their geographical location. So, in short, we aim to publish articles that make syntheses of old or synoptic, long-term or spatially widespread data, introduce or consolidate fresh concepts or theory, or, in the Ghoti section, briefly justify preliminary, new synoptic ideas. Please note that authors of submissions not meeting this mandate will be directed to the appropriate primary literature.

Flora

ISSN: 0367-2530
JUFO Level 1

FLORA is the scientific botanical journal with the longest uninterrupted publication sequence (since 1818). Manuscripts will be considered for publication dealing with plant structure (morphology and anatomy), plant distribution (molecular phylogeography) and plant functional ecology (ecophysiology, population ecology and population genetics, organismic interactions, community ecology, ecosystem ecology).Manuscripts will be considered if they appeal a broad scientific readership.Manuscripts of mostly taxonomic nature or focused on floristics and vegetation science will only be considered if they exceed the pure descriptive approach and have relevance for interpreting plant morphology, distribution or ecology. Manuscripts whose content is restricted to purely systematic and nomenclature matters, to geobotanical aspects of only local interest, to pure applications in agri-, horti- or silviculture, and experimental studies dealing exclusively with investigations at the cellular and subcellular level will not be accepted. Manuscripts dealing with comparative and evolutionary aspects of morphology, anatomy and development are welcome.

Food Webs

eISSN: 2352-2496
JUFO Level 1
The journal Food Webs publishes original research articles, focused reviews and concept papers examining the species interactions that structure ecological communities. This interdisciplinary journal encompasses both experimental and theoretical research that seeks a mechanistic understanding of the influence of these interactions on the composition of communities and functioning of ecosystems. As such, articles focus on a multitude of areas within the area of food web biology.

These include, but are not limited to, the following:
• simple trophic relationships and cascading effects between levels of a community
• multi-species interactions and the structuring of populations and communities
• effect of competition and co-existence of species in defining trophic relationships
• effect of perturbation on species and interaction pathways
• quantifying direct and indirect effects on populations
• stability and productivity of food webs
• empirical and theoretical assessment of food web structure and complexity
• models explaining food web structure and trophic relationships

Food Webs will consider papers from terrestrial, freshwater and marine systems, without any bias for the taxa being studied or techniques used

Forest Ecology and Management

ISSN: 0378-1127eISSN: 1872-7042
JUFO Level 3

Forest Ecology and Management publishes scientific articles that link forest ecology with forest management, and that apply biological and ecological knowledge to the management and conservation of man-made and natural forests. The scope of the journal includes all forest ecosystems of the world.A refereeing process ensures the quality and international interest of the manuscripts accepted for publication. The journal aims to encourage communication between scientists in disparate fields who share a common interest in ecology and forest management, and to bridge the gap between research workers and forest managers in the field to the benefit of both. The editors encourage submission of papers that will have the strongest interest and value to the Journal's international readership. Some key features of papers with strong interest include:1. Clear connections between the ecology and management of forests;2. Novel ideas or approaches to important challenges in forest ecology and management;3. Studies that address a population of interest beyond the scale of single research sites (see the editorial, Three key points in the design of forest experiments, Forest Ecology and Management 255 (2008) 2022-2023);4. Review Articles on timely, important topics. Authors are encouraged to contact one of the editors to discuss the potential suitability of a review manuscript. We now receive many more submissions than we can publish. Many papers are rejected because they do not fit within the aims and scope detailed above. Some examples include:1. Papers in which the primary focus is, for example, entomology or pathology or soil science or remote sensing, but where the links to, and implications for, forest management are not clear and have not been strongly developed; 2. Model-based investigations that do not include a substantial field-based validation component;3. Local or regional studies of diversity aimed at the development of conservation policies;4. The effects of forestry practices that do not include a strong ecological component (for example, the effects of weed control or fertilizer application on yield);5. Social or economic or policy studies (please consider our sister journal, 'Forest Policy and Economics').LIST OF REVIEWERS 2011Please bookmark this page as: http://www.elsevier.com/locate/forecoFor more information/suggestions/comments please contact AuthorSupport@elsevier.com
